"Mr. Credit is dead and buried" - M (1931)Directed by Fritz Lang

Sunday morning and waiting for the talk shows (where Sarah is supposed to be a no-show). So I see this old movie and am intrigued by the cops and crooks after a murderer. When the crooks decide they need the Beggars' Association to be their best informants, this was funny, a sign on the wall at the Beggars' headquarters. From the 1931 movie "M" :

M (1931)Directed by Fritz Lang. With Peter Lorre, Ellen Widmann, Inge Landgut. When the police in a German city are unable to catch a child-murderer, ...

A psychotic child murderer stalks a city, and despite an exhaustive investigation fueled by public hysteria and outcry, the police have been unable to find him. But the police crackdown does have one side-affect, it makes it nearly impossible for the organized criminal underground to operate. So they decide that the only way to get the police off their backs is to catch the murderer themselves. Besides, he is giving them a bad name.

This is good, when you put it in historical context. Guess I'll catch up on who said what later on the blogs... you know, the mainstream media filter.
